Everybody wants happiness. Nobody wants pain. But you can't have a rainbow without a little rain. - author unknown
Just as the rain is necessary for the rainbow, similarly a little effort is often a necessary prerequisite to achievements that we enjoy.
Sometimes that rain can come in the form of disappointment from failed attempts at things we want. Humans are learning animals. Exploring and experimenting are part of the learning process, and it is inevitable that people will make some mistakes. If there was never any gap between what one had and what one wants, then people would not be motivated to learn, and no learning would occur.
That is why some "rain" is necessary for growth as a learner. But with perseverence and sometimes a little help, that rain may be followed by another kind of rainbow: the joy of discovery.
